New Dinghy!!

For our upcoming 2-week sailing trip to the Chesapeake - we got a new dinghy! This one is much larger than our old one - holds 1400 lbs instead of the 600 lb capacity of our old one.

Maybe we won't get "dinghy butt" now. (Dinghy butt is obtained when you overload your dinghy - therefore putting your butt too close to the splashy stuff!!) Sharon and Buddy will be pleased, I'm sure!

We had to get this one registered with the NC authorities....they require that you place the numbers and registration sticker on the sides of the boat. This can be accomplished by painting it on (as we did on our original dinghy). However, this usually looks rather "amateurish"....we opted to have a plate made with the numbering - and glued it on with a special glue....

Here is is finished. The boat has a high-pressure "v-hull" that we haven't inflated yet. We'll wait until we get it down to the boat to do that....

Nice new dinghy. That should make it more comfortable to 'go ashore'. E

Nice little numbers on a very nice little dinghy - do you keep in inflated or deflated on the boat?

Love,

hey t, this one will stay inflated on a storage rack at the marina. it weighs over 100 lbs. the old one weighed just 51 pounds, so it could be folded up and stored on the boat in a compartment at the back.

while we're "cruising", we'll pull the boat behind us like a water-skier. gettin' close to push-off!

love, k
