More bathroom tile refurb

Yesterday, we got started using mortar to glue down the new tiles in the shower area.

Easy once you have everything laid out!

And then Hurricane Matthew decided to interrupt my project!!  Our power went out...so we put a hold on all household projects and just read our Kindles all afternoon and evening while it rained buckets!

But this morning, Duane got the generator running so we had lights and power tools!!

Next up was removing all the "accent" tiles (the dusty rose and evergreen colored ones)!   Duane used the vibrating saw, a hammer, and a crowbar to muscle them loose.  Apparently, when we installed them in 1995, we wanted them to stay put forever!

Ugly tile all gone!!

I had a bit of cleaning up to do - making the vacant surfaces ready to accept new tile.

And now it's time to install the rest of the floor!  Toilet is removed now.

You know the drill - just lots of tedious fitting/cutting and gluing in place.  About 1/2 way thru, the power came back on- yay!!!

And hours later....all the floor tile is installed!!!   We'll have to use other bathrooms for a couple of days while the mortar dries.
